L'Alliance est officiellement lancée aux chutes Victoria

Huit États d'Afrique australe adoptent une déclaration fondatrice et un programme de travail triennal.

On 25 and 26 March 2026, government representatives from Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe convened at Victoria Falls to formally establish the Southern Africa Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance.

A regional response to a global opportunity

The founding ministers underlined the urgency of a coordinated regional position as carbon market instruments under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement move from negotiation to implementation.

"For too long, our region has engaged carbon markets one country at a time. This Alliance changes that."

— Convening statement, Victoria Falls, 26 March 2026

Governance and work programme

The Declaration establishes a Steering Committee composed of National Focal Points from each of the eight member states, supported by a Secretariat hosted in the region.
