Timeline

From Bonn to Victoria Falls.

  1. 2017
    The West African Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance is established in Bonn.
  2. 2019
    The Eastern Africa Alliance is established — extending the model to East Africa.
  3. 2024
    Article 6 Connect global programme commissioned by BMZ and implemented by GIZ.
  4. 2025
    Preparatory consultations with the eight founding member states of Southern Africa.
  5. 25–26 March 2026 · Victoria Falls
    The Southern Africa Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance is formally launched.
  6. 2026–2028
    Operationalisation: Secretariat establishment, work programme delivery, and first peer-to-peer exchanges.
